Auto Submit is a new feature in our social news application that scans the RSS feeds of websites with content relevant to each of our communities. Our editors and moderators then filters the articles and content from all those feeds before submitting them to the backpage. Once there users can read, star, favorite, and discuss. Basically, this feature removes a lot of the manual labor involved in item submissions.

Users can still submit articles and we plan to incorporate many new features to make this process easier in the near future. There will be a two day lag for users to submit content before articles and other items are placed in the Auto Submit queue. The Auto Submit feature is more of a catch all than a replacement for user submissions.

Webmasters, publishers, and bloggers who want to add their site to our Auto Submit feed list can do so via this form.

There’s been a blank white space about 150px in height under the logo of each site. A couple of people thought it was a design goof. What’s suppose to go there is a list of icons for the various applications we plan to develop and host. Currently we have one application up and running, social news. Since putting only one icon there would seemed odd, we decided to wait until more applications were ready. Don’t worry, we’ll be filling in this bar pretty quickly in the next few months. We’re currently near finish on three applications, blog network, wiki and forum.

In a week or so, our blog network application is next to go live. We already have half a dozen bloggers lined up for Ningin and Jetdrop and we’re in talks with many more. Each blogger who joins our network has a strong passion for the community they’ll be blogging for. They’ll be reporting on the issues and buzz within their respective Mixr community and provide commentary, features, analysis, highlights, interviews, and news bites on all the related happenings in the world. Consider them community reporters as well as industry experts. The Jetdrop Community blog will be up sometime towards the end of next week and Ningin will follow shortly thereafter.

Right now the blog icon will link to our ”Join Our Blog Network” page. We’ll still looking for a lot more passionate, opinionated people to join the ones we have so far. If you already spend a lot of time writing about Gadgets, Cars, and Asian Media, why not join our growing communities and be compensated for something you do for fun.

Haven’t had time to blog much since the transitions. Between dealing with the various bugs/errors that naturally follows a huge code addition, meetings, and catching up on sleep, there just isn’t enough time in the day. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a bunch of new features and changes that needs highlighting. The first change/feature up for discussion is the recent activity section of the member profile page.

It’s basically the same as it was in the old system, but this time it shows all the activity in a feed format whereas the old version separated the activity into different tabs. For now, it’s set to show activities within the last 45 days; however, that’s open to change. To view a complete, sortable history of all your activities, there’s the history feature which also got a face lift.

Once we incorporate more applications, the recent activity will show all actions from those as well. Later on, you’ll be able to track your recent activity, and those of your friends in a RSS feed.

Technically all Mixr sites are in a beta stage. Even though we don’t have a beta image next to our logo, we’re in beta. One can argue that all web applications are in a perpetual beta stage since new features and functions are constantly being added. Mixr certainly isn’t an exception. Which is why we put up a bug tracking system and we need your help to find any possible bugs out there. Don’t forget to login or register as only registered users can report bugs.

Also, we have a special award icon for bug submitters...the “Bug Hunter” award. Thanks in advance for helping us track down bugs!
