Newsstream FAQ

Newsstream is a way to see all the top stories from around the Internet related to the sites in our network. It combines feeds from hundreds of websites into one big stream of news. All stories initially start out in the pending queue where users, moderators, and admins can approve them.

Earn EXP points for approving stories, visiting another website's story, commenting on stories, and more.

How do I promote stories?

In the pending page, click on the promote icon () next to the story.

How are the scores determined for stories?

The scores next to a story is a composite of various actions, commenting, views, click-throughs, and other factors.

How come the stories I promote don’t become popular?

In order for a story to become popular, it needs a threshold of users to promote it, an admin or moderator to promote it, or a high level user that’s under quota for the day to promote it.

What stories should I promote?

Whatever you want so long as it fits the community.

Why should I promote stories?

Besides earning EXP points and possibly winning prizes, you're helping the community determine what's popular and good to read. Your choices matter!
